Job Overview
The Chief Medical Officer of Erlanger East provides physician and staff leadership for Erlanger East, ensuring the facility delivers an appropriate quality of care to its patients. The Chief Medical Officer shares in administrative functions that directly impact medical services and collaborates with the management team in overall planning. The East Chief Medical Officer duties include those listed below as well as other duties reasonably requested by Erlanger or necessary to assist the operations of Erlanger East.
Attends at least 75% of quarterly medical staff meetings; attends any meeting as directed by the medical director or his/her designee.
Required:
- M.D.
- Valid license to practice medicine in TN
- Bachelor Degree in business, healthcare administration, or a comparable discipline.
Preferred:
- Master s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a comparable discipline
Required:
10+ years experience in clinical medicine
- Preferred: 2+ years experience in a hospital administration or senior clinical role
- Current licensure as an MD/DO to practice in the State of TN by the State Board of Medical Examiners.
- Current DEA, DPS certification
- Current CPR Certification required (ACLS preferred)
- Valid TN or GA Driver s License
- Current Immunization Records
- Current PPD
- Must be able to meet and maintain current EHS credentialing and privileging requirements.
- Attend monthly advisory meetings requiring representation from Erlanger East.
- Consistently promote Erlanger Health System s (EHS) Quality, Safety and Service initiatives.
- Attend Leadership Steering Committee meetings (e.g., East Leadership Meeting, EHS Medical Executive Committee, etc.).
- Work with departments to develop and review order sets, policies and procedures to include development, compliance, and education on said orders and procedures to ensure standardized and consistent care delivery.
- Review all non-ER patient transfers from Erlanger East to a higher level of care.
- Work with departmental physician leaders/administrators to assure Best Practice processes are in place.
- Serve as a member of Administrative Leadership at East; attend scheduled meetings and rounds, providing input regarding strategic and functional direction for the facility, including expansion of patient services (e.g., pediatrics, interventional cardiology, critical care, etc.).
- Work with departments to optimize compliance with DNV and other applicable regulatory agencies.
- Evaluate procedures and equipment for appropriateness, need, and utilization in conjunction with the Administration, the Credentials Committee and other formal EHS entities (e.g. Value Analysis Committee, Technology Acquisition Committee, etc.).
- Provide medical direction and serve as a liaison between administrative leadership and the East physicians and advanced practice providers as needed for quality, safety, financial and service opportunities. This includes direct counseling and willingness to address quality, safety and citizenship issues, in partnership with Erlanger System Chief Medical Officer and Medical Staff leadership, when indicated.
