Position SummaryBlue Line Solutions is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to support the stability, reliability, and daily operation of our IT infrastructure. This onsite role supports a hybrid environment that includes on-premises systems, Azure cloud resources, Microsoft 365, and distributed IoT-based technologies supporting public safety operations nationwide.
This position is hands-on and operational in nature, with strong ownership over systems administration, documentation, monitoring, and continuous improvement. The Systems Administrator works closely with the Security Administrator, Engineering teams, and Helpdesk to ensure systems are secure, scalable, and well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities Infrastructure & Systems Operations- Administer and maintain on-premises and cloud-hosted servers, virtual machines, and supporting infrastructure.
- Manage virtualization platforms and server hardware lifecycle (deployment, upgrades, maintenance, retirement).
- Perform routine system patching, updates, and maintenance in accordance with change management and after-hours windows.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity using enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, Solar Winds, SIEM, Azure Monitor).
- Administer Microsoft 365 services including Entra (Azure AD), Exchange Online, Intune, and related services.
- Support Azure infrastructure, including VNets, routing, NSGs, VPN/Express Route concepts.
- Manage Azure Backup and disaster recovery processes, including restore testing.
- Monitor cloud usage, performance, and cost optimization.
- Maintain documentation for cloud architecture, configurations, and procedures.
- Support firewalls, switches, access points, network connectivity across office and remote deployments.
- Troubleshoot system and network issues across distributed environments.
- Support network-connected and IoT-based systems.
- Maintain accurate network and infrastructure documentation.
- Administer endpoint management platforms and device configurations.
- Manage user access, roles, and permissions across Active Directory, Entra , and business systems.
- Build actionable alerts with appropriate signal-to-noise balance.
- Participate in incident response, documentation, and postmortems.
- Assist with automation of routine operational tasks using scripts and tools.
- Support practical SIEM activities (Microsoft Sentinel or comparable).
- Serve as escalation support for Helpdesk on infrastructure-related issues.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Helpdesk staff as needed.
- Partner closely with the Security Administrator on security controls and remediation.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Development teams on infrastructure needs tied to deployments.
- Coordinate with vendors and third-party contractors for installations and support.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 4+ years of experience in IT systems administration.
- Hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments.
- Experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
- Employment contingent upon passing a national fingerprint-based criminal history check.
- Willingness to participate in after-hours on-call rotation and occasional extended hours.
