We are looking to hire a Senior Business Analyst – IT to join our team. Senior Business Analysts are responsible for ensuring the delivery of defined business objectives within agile teams. They play a key role in advancing business solutions across a broad portfolio by collaborating closely with IT Leadership, Product Owners, Business SMEs and Business Architects. The Senior Business Analyst will identify and champion opportunities where strategic investment can enhance customer and company outcomes.
JobSpecifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; relevant professional qualifications or equivalent industry experience accepted.
- 6+ years of experience delivering business solutions in agile environments.
- Proven success in software solution delivery and business value creation.
- Strong analytical mindset with a focus on metrics, KPIs and ROI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable leading discussions across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work across functional teams and manage ambiguity.
- Strong knowledge of insurance or relevant industry preferred.
- Enthusiasm for continuous learning, innovation and problem‑solving.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. CBAP, PMI‑PBA, SAFe, Scrum) strongly encouraged.
- Maintain a holistic understanding of the IT Delivery roadmap and ensure alignment within backlog tools to support automated roadmaps, metrics and reporting.
- Ensure key product/adoption KPIs are measurable and tracked throughout development, identifying supporting trends that may impact success.
- Leverage client personas to refine work items and ensure shared understanding of user needs within the agile team.
- Ensure backlog quality by writing concise user stories with clear acceptance criteria, traceable to source, and aligned to enterprise standards for planning and decomposition.
- Collaborate with Business Architects, Product Owners and SMEs to define user stories from capability roadmaps, covering both functional and non‑functional requirements.
- Work with architects, engineers and testers to ensure backlog items are clearly understood and deliver high‑quality outcomes that meet expectations.
- Analyze and map business processes and systems using enterprise toolsets (e.g. Blueworks, Excel).
- Partner with UX designers to integrate user needs and personas into backlog items and requirements.
- Conduct industry and technology research to identify trends and recommend relevant applications within Unum’s business context.
- Evaluate native functionality of third‑party/cloud solutions and assess their fit for business needs (e.g. layouts, workflows, dashboards).
