Position Summary
Staff Product Researcher who proactively and independently develops and executes research solutions for complex, ambiguous, and often cross-functional problem spaces to deliver strategic impact. Your work influences product decision-making by connecting macro forces, customer needs, and Etsy’s business goals. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, researchers, and data scientists to deliver insights that shape the future of human commerce on Etsy.
Salary
: $165,000 – $215,000. You will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and competitive benefits that support you and your family.
- Partner with team members to guide product development and refinement, drawing on expertise in user research and UX standards.
- Proactively and independently develop and execute research solutions for complex, ambiguous, and often cross-functional problem spaces.
- Conduct remote, on-site, and in-field (as needed) user research studies with Etsy buyers and sellers.
- Share tangible findings and prioritized recommendations on a regular basis to encourage marketplace health and drive Etsy’s business goals.
- Partner with other insights teams (Market Research, Quantitative Research, Data Science, etc.) to triangulate insights and synthesize findings and recommendations.
- In-depth understanding of a range of research approaches, balancing speed and precision, and knowledge of modern trends in web and app design.
- High comfort level building relationships across the business and co-creating strategies that consider customer and business implications.
- Experience leading research at different stages of the product development process, from discovery to delivery.
- Engaging storyteller and clear communicator, able to hold your own in meetings and persuade others to take action through a customer-centric lens.
- Craft leader within the research team, advancing tools, methods, and abilities while mentoring more junior team members.
- Ambitious, meticulous, and able to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
- Passionate about learning and problem solving that enables innovative approaches to finding solutions.
- Familiarity with payments, checkout, and digital wallet is a plus.
- Experience working with Android and iOS initiatives or similar mobile platforms.

Location & Work ArrangementsWe are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub may be the first to be considered. For commutable candidates, in-office attendance is required once or twice per week depending on proximity. Etsy offers flexible work modes to meet the variety of needs and preferences of the team.
