Position OverviewThe Extended Coverage Representative supports customers by ensuring the efficient movement of inventory through proactive after-hours logistics support. This role is responsible for managing existing customer accounts, negotiating rates based on market conditions, identifying and resolving shipment issues, and maintaining strong service execution during non-standard business hours.
Responsibilities- Proactive and diligent execution of on-time tracking and tracing for all shipments in transit.
- Disseminate relevant and accurate tracking updates to internal team members.
- Maintain internal and external systems with current shipment details.
- Communicate load requirements to drivers and carriers to ensure successful execution.
- Provide proactive communication when delays or service risks arise.
- Respond to customer and carrier inquiries regarding shipment status.
- Conduct driver check calls throughout the shipment lifecycle.
- Ensure all load-related data is accurately captured and stored.
- Track location, dwell time, and utilization for trailer pool customers.
- Assist After hours Capacity Management with carrier compliance onboarding.
- Provide support in securing replacement carrier capacity in the event of a carrier fall-off.
- Collaborate with the Extended Coverage Manager and On-Call Broker Support to support high-volume carrier capacity securement efforts.
- Communicate customer-approved rates when soliciting additional freight opportunities.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of rating and pricing tools to support accurate rate communication.
- Cross train within the Extended Coverage team.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills.
- Efficient understanding of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Have a good understanding of geography and interstate system in the United States.
- Be able to calculate transit and understand time zones.
- Ability to balance competing priorities across multiple systems.
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business or similar field required. 1 year of relevant work experience may be substituted for each year of education required. Prior customer service or logistics experience highly desired.
Competitive CompensationPay Range: $45,007.59 - $69,574.81
Pay Grade: 7401(k)
