The Custodian position assists the Custodial Coordinator in keeping the buildings clean. These duties include, but are not limited to: sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, event set‑ups, cleaning restrooms, washing walls, wiping down whiteboards, emptying trash, and servicing/maintaining department equipment. Uniforms and personal protective equipment will be provided and must be worn at all times. This position reports to the Custodial Coordinator and ultimately to the Executive Director of Plant Operations.

• Maintains a clean and sanitary environment in our buildings that is welcoming to students, employees and community members.
• Promotes, supports and participates in student recruitment and retention efforts.

• Maintains a culture of consistency and equity when dealing with all members of the campus community independent of race, gender, or sexuality.
• Supports and promotes a culture of safety within the department.
• Keeps the buildings clean and tidy year‑round under the direction of the Custodial Coordinator and ultimately the Executive Director of Plant Operations.

• Works efficiently by performing all duties relevant to the position such as setting up events, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, etc.
• Lifts at least 50 pounds safely and independently.
• Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of safety practices and procedures relevant to job duties.
• Skilled in safe operation of custodial equipment (e.g., carpet shampooer, buffer, vacuum).
• Effective communication whether one‑on‑one or in a group setting.
• Maintains healthy working relationships with all members of the campus community and receives and champions directives from supervisors.

• Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma and have no less than 3 years of experience working in a custodial capacity.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
