Production Supervisor - 1st Shift Machine Shop
Mueller Water Products, Inc. invites applications for a Production Supervisor responsible for leading production on the first shift in the machine shop that manufactures valves and related products.
Responsibilities- Plan and lead production processes and personnel on various shifts during manufacturing/assembly of products.
- Partner with the Production Manager, Production Planning, and Materials departments to establish production priorities and plans.
- Direct production operations in accordance with established priorities and sequences, using production processes, machine and equipment capabilities, and skilled labor.
- Analyze production schedules to estimate work requirements, adjusting to meet scheduled requirements.
- Assist QA and Manufacturing Engineering personnel in testing, troubleshooting, and modifying processes to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Advise managers and supervisors of production issues and propose changes in working conditions, design, test, production procedures, and equipment use.
- Meet or exceed goals for safety, labor efficiencies, schedule attainment, scrap, rework, and other production‑related goals.
- Initiate and implement plans to motivate, empower, and develop workers in a team environment.
- Supervise and assist in the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automated machines, assembly equipment, and machining centers.
- Conduct performance appraisals and recommend promotions, transfers, disciplinary measures.
- Obtain materials as directed and perform operations to expedite requirements toward production plans.
- Implement lean techniques such as 5S, standardized work, waste identification and elimination, value stream mapping, multi‑skilled workforce, one‑piece flow, visual factory concepts, and TPM.
- Three to five years of experience in a union manufacturing facility.
- Strong Microsoft Office and HRIS skills.
- Consistent track record for executing performance objectives with minimal supervision.
- Relationship‑building, communication, and leadership attributes.
