Plastic Extrusion Machine Operator
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Plastic Extrusion Machine Operator to join our production team. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining extrusion equipment used to manufacture high-quality plastic products for the food, meat, medical, and industrial markets. The operator will ensure product quality, safety compliance, and efficient production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Schedule & Pay- Shift: 12-hour rotating schedule
- Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM ($17.00/hr)
- Night Shift: 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM ($17.50/hr)
- Work Schedule:
- Week 1: 4 days on
- Week 2: 3 days on
- (Every other day rotation)
- Set up, operate, and monitor plastic extrusion machines and related equipment
- Produce plastic sheeting, bags, and roll stock to required specifications
- Ensure consistent product quality and adherence to safety and regulatory standards
- Monitor material flow, temperatures, pressures, and machine performance
- Perform routine inspections and minor troubleshooting of equipment
- Package finished goods, including:
- Sheet widths from 6” to 120”
- Bags from 14” to 120”
- Rolls on 3”, 4”, and 6” cores (up to 40” OD)
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and quality procedures
- Assist with material handling, including use of recycled and proprietary materials
- Keep work area clean and organized in compliance with company standards
You will be working with a variety of plastic products, including:
- Food-safe packaging for meat and food processing industries
- Medical and infectious waste bags (red, yellow, blue with print)
- Industrial and commercial can liners (natural, white, and black)
- High-strength liners made from proprietary recycled materials
Our facility maintains:
- GFSI-SQF 8.0 certification (high food safety standards)
- IMS (Interstate Milk Shippers) Audit certification
- Strict cleanliness, quality, and compliance standards
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred (extrusion experience a plus)
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and rotating schedule
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to follow safety, quality, and food-grade production protocols
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Experience in plastics manufacturing or film extrusion
- Familiarity with food-safe or medical-grade production environments
- Ability to read measurements and production specifications
- Industrial manufacturing setting
- Exposure to heat, machinery, and moving equipment
- PPE required at all times
Pay Details: $17.00 to $17.50 per hour
