About the Role
We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Fabrication and Weld Processing to join our dynamic team in Chattanooga, TN. This is a hands-on, full-time role ideal for an experienced professional with a strong foundation in welding technologies, fabrication processes, and manufacturing improvement.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of welding procedures (GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, SAW, GTAW), hard automation, and robotics. This role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on engagement in manufacturing environments to optimize production, ensure compliance with welding codes, and support engineering initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and ensure safe work practices throughout manufacturing operations
- Develop and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
- Conduct process evaluations and identify areas for improvement in fabrication and welding workflows
- Provide technical support to shop personnel and address real-time manufacturing challenges
- Evaluate emerging technologies in welding, tooling, and fabrication
- Support cost reduction initiatives, productivity improvements, and quality enhancements
- Participate in welder training, performance testing, and certification support
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and leadership teams
- Assist in design reviews and provide feedback on manufacturability and process efficiency
- Prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations to senior leadership
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5–7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication engineering role
- Strong understanding of AWS and ASME welding codes and ability to stay current
- Experience with CNC machining, press brakes, saws, and fixture/tooling design
- Knowledge of hard automation and robotic welding systems
- Demonstrated experience in equipment justification and cost-benefit analysis
- Experience managing complex engineering projects and balancing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence change
- Proficient in software tools such as:
- MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Dynamics AX)
