Service Helper – Chattanooga, TN

As a Service Helper, you will maintain a clean, organized manufacturing environment, support producers, operate forklifts and safety equipment, and ensure smooth material flow to meet production goals.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment by sweeping, discarding scrap materials, and clearing walkways of debris.
  • Ensure machines are properly cleaned and maintained.
  • Assist in moving and staging raw materials, parts, and tools within the machine shop to support production workflows.
  • Deliver and retrieve materials and components from storage areas or other departments.
  • Help maintain tools and equipment by ensuring they are properly stored, cleaned, and ready for use.
  • Provide general support to operators by assisting with setup, part loading/unloading, and other tasks as needed.
  • Ensure operators have easy access to materials, tools, and equipment to prevent delays in production.
  • Follow machine shop safety policies and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Report any hazards, unsafe conditions, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors or team leads.
  • Operate forklift as required.
  • Work safely in the manufacturing production environment.
  • Follow detailed verbal or written assembly instructions, processes, and procedures.
  • Properly fill out basic forms, reports, and label products accurately that pertain to job duties.
  • Communicate and work effectively with others.
  • Provide hands‑on and verbal job‑function training to coworkers as needed.
  • Report problems with quality, processes, equipment, and materials to the Production Supervisor or management team.
  • Record daily all work performed and the correct distribution of work time.
  • Use software systems as needed to complete job duties.
  • Contribute to a culture of high‑quality products.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as directed by supervisor per CBA and company policies.
  • The Supervisor will instruct each employee in the responsibilities as listed in the procedures and inform each employee where to access the procedure manual.
Job Expectations
  • Ability to work with your hands and use power tools, air tools, and vibratory tools.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to lift and move 25 pounds, and up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures (hot/cold).
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach at arm’s length, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Ability to use power tools, air tools, and other vibratory tools.
  • Ability to work around hot heavy machinery and from a standing position for extended periods.
  • Ability to move materials with a powered vehicle (forklift).
  • Repetitive standing, bending, turning, and twisting for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision requirements, including close vision and color vision.
  • Must pass a basic aptitude test, physical exam, drug/alcohol test, and background screen.
  • Candidates must be available to work all shifts, including mandatory overtime on weekends.
  • Previous experience in a foundry setting is required.

Required Education / Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
Work Schedule

Work is scheduled in 8 to 10‑hour shifts Monday through Friday, with potential mandatory overtime throughout the week and on weekends. Overtime is compensated based on the current collective bargaining agreement. Employees must be flexible and may need to change shifts.
