Tray Machine Operator - 3rd Shift (5 Day/8 Hour)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITYResponsibility of the machine(s) to ensure that quality products are achieved at a consistent rate of speed in accordance with machine standards, and ensure all safety procedures are followed.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES- Set up machine in a consistent manner as instructed in the training program; maintain the procedures with regard to proper set up unless the training is changed and properly recorded.
- Follow all checklist procedures fully.
- Keep all parts in their proper place and recommend replacement or repair of worn parts by filling out the designated form.
- Observe safety procedures at all times.
- Operate tray machines as directed to meet production requirements.
- Responsible for all equipment, tools assigned, and notify the supervisor of any additional tools or equipment that would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.
- Follow all instructions issued on the work jacket and advise the supervisor of any incorrect or non-recorded information that is necessary for proper set-up and operation.
- Keep all necessary supplies available to the operator to ensure an efficient operation.
- Responsible for the quality of the product, packaging, labeling, and stocking.
- Responsible for the quality of product manufactured concerning correct viscosity, color, shading, contrast, straining, and ink used.
- See that pallet loads are accurately counted, tagged, and entered to the production report.
- Follow the stacking arrangement, number of layers, and height requirement for each case size from the Pallet Stacking Manual.
- Once a pallet is full, call the stock puller on the paging system to move the pallet.
- When the pallet is moved, place a new pallet down by the machine.
- Calculate scrap rate to assure job stays within allowable limits.
- Communicate well with other team members.
- Wear appropriate PPE for the task and the area.
- Welcome updates and improvements to processes and follow new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.
- Perform work in a manner that keeps downtime to a minimum.
- Maintain a clean work environment in accordance with Food Safety and 5S systems.
- Follow all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Use situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
- May be asked to help with duties in other areas or departments.
Education and/or
Experience:
Experience operating a tray machine, preferably in a folding carton environment. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize software. Must have mechanical ability and skills.
Language
Skills:
Ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
