THE OPPORTUNITY

Sherman + Reilly is hiring a Buyer
- Fabrication to own purchase order execution and material availability for our Fabrication & Machining category. Based in Chattanooga, TN, you'll keep production supplied with fabricated components, weldments, machined parts, and raw materials.

This seat is newly split from what used to be a combined buyer and category role. A dedicated Category Manager
- Fabrication now owns supplier strategy and negotiations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own PO execution and material availability for a high-volume category: fabricated components, weldments, machined parts, and raw materials.

• Convert MRP demand into purchase orders and manage them from issuance through delivery.

• Expedite and resolve delivery issues to keep production running.

• Maintain accurate SAP ByDesign material master data for your commodities.

• Read technical drawings and specs to make sure every PO matches engineering requirements.

• Resolve invoice discrepancies and coordinate RMAs and returns with suppliers and Accounts Payable.

• Partner daily with Quality, Engineering, and Operations, and execute supplier onboarding and blanket POs set by the Category Manager - Fabrication.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• 3-5 years in a buyer or purchasing role with direct responsibility for fabricated or machined components.

• Solid understanding of fabrication methods: welding, machining, forming, finishing, and coatings.

• Comfortable reading technical drawings and engineering requirements.

• Experience with ERP systems (SAP ByDesign or S4/HANA preferred) and Excel.

Preferred

• Experience sourcing components for mobile or heavy equipment manufacturers.

• Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) practices.

• Working knowledge of GD&T.

• Experience operating in a category-management/purchasing split organization.
