Maintenance Technician Lead 2nd Shift
The Maintenance Technician Lead supports safe and efficient production by serving as the mechanical expert on the weekend crew. This role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing equipment failures, performing preventative maintenance to maximize equipment reliability, and providing hands-on training and leadership to team members on technical processes. The schedule is 1st shift on the weekend crew, working 2:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with one day off during the week and work required every weekend.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the production team as the primary mechanical expert on the weekend crew.
- Ensure all production and support equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Perform preventative maintenance procedures to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and basic electrical equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.
- Repair or adjust equipment as needed to restore proper operation.
- Carry out basic electrical tasks such as replacing motors, switches, photo-eyes, and related components.
- Perform package changeovers on production lines as required to meet production needs.
- Support team members on all aspects of the operation, providing technical guidance as needed.
- Train team members on mechanical processes, equipment operation, and basic troubleshooting techniques.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in equipment performance and maintenance practices.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area in accordance with ISO and Good Manufacturing Practices standards.
Essential Skills
- Proven leadership experience in a maintenance or production environment, including serving in a lead role.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience working on industrial machinery.
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance on production and support equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment failures.
- Basic electrical skills, including working with motors, switches, wiring, and 480-volt systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, and high-speed machinery.
- Familiarity with sensors, drives, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Capability to perform machining and mechanical adjustments as needed.
- Strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to ISO and Good Manufacturing Practices standards.
- Effective communication skills to train and guide team members on mechanical processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with robotic systems and automated equipment.
- Comfort working with various pneumatic systems and fluid-handling equipment.
- Background in continuous improvement within a manufacturing or production setting.
- Ability to adapt to changing production requirements, including frequent package changeovers.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment
The role is based in a non-climate-controlled production facility characterized by a humid environment due to constant water flow and the cool, hot, and humid conditions associated with beverage processing equipment and liquids. The Maintenance Technician Lead works on and around high-speed machinery, conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems, frequently interacting with electrical components up to 480 volts. The position follows a 1st shift weekend schedule from 2:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with one weekday off and work required every weekend.
Team members are expected to maintain a safe and clean workspace in alignment with ISO and Good Manufacturing Practices standards, and to wear appropriate industrial attire suitable for a humid, high-activity manufacturing environment.
