The right candidate will be comfortable working from blueprints, operating manual machine-shop equipment, and taking a project from initial layout through final completion.

What You'll Do:

  • Build and finish aluminum tools and molds, taking them from rough castings through production-ready tooling.
  • Machine, modify, repair, and maintain tooling using manual shop equipment and a variety of hand tools.
  • Operate manual lathes, milling machines, radial drills, and other machine-shop equipment.
  • Perform aluminum and steel welding as needed for tooling fabrication and repairs.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure tooling is built to required dimensions.
  • Install and modify plumbing associated with tools and molds.
  • Diagnose tooling problems and make necessary corrections to improve mold performance and production quality.
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues both in the maintenance area and, when necessary, while tooling is installed on the production press.
  • Complete work orders in ITS2
  • Design and construct jigs, fixtures, layouts, and other tooling-related items as production needs arise.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and make modifications to extend tooling life and improve performance.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and safe work areas while following PPE and housekeeping requirements.
  • Participate in 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in training and developing teammates on tooling and machining skills.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and see them through to completion.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
  • What We're Looking For:

  • 3+ years of experience in tool making, mold making, tool repair, or tooling modification preferred.
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered with relevant formal tooling education or certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong manual machining experience.
  • Proficiency operating equipment such as:
    • Manual lathes
    • Milling machines
    • Radial drills
    • Shop machinery
    • Hand tools
    • Experience with aluminum and steel welding.
    • Ability to perform tooling repairs and modifications independently.
    • Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to plan a job, determine the necessary steps and materials, and complete the project with minimal direction.
    • Experience working with the equipment and processes necessary to install or modify tooling plumbing.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • What Makes This Role a Fit:

This opportunity is well suited for a Tool & Die Maker, Mold Maker, Tooling Technician, Manual Machinist, Tool Repair Technician, or experienced Machinist who enjoys hands-on work and wants to be involved in the complete tooling process—from machining and fabrication through troubleshooting and production support.

If you have strong manual machining skills and can take a tooling project from a drawing to a finished, production-ready component, we'd like to hear from you.
