Full‑Time experienced Maintenance and Vocational Training Assistant, who is a mature Christian, will work with the Vocational Director to oversee the building, equipment, vehicles, grounds and landscape maintenance at our non‑profit Christian discipleship ministry. You will be working exclusively and very closely with men of every kind. Our ministry serves those with diverse life‑controlling problems, and usually drug and alcohol addiction.
RequirementsThis Position Requires:
- Although hours will be regular, you must be available 24 hours for occasional emergencies
- Must have a tobacco and alcohol‑free lifestyle. Must be free from addiction to illegal and prescription medications.
Required Skills:
- A working knowledge of basic maintenance skills.
- Windows computer skills, word processing, some spreadsheets, email etc.
- Willingness to learn our ATC database
- Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record
- Must speak and write clearly
- An ability and willingness to learn and obtain new skills
- Ability to consistently maintain monthly repetitive tasks, paperwork and data entry.
- Demonstrate organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage time effectively with minimal supervision
- Willingness to adapt to changing job responsibilities as the ministry changes and grows
Desired Skills and/or willing to learn:
- Experience in HVAC is a plus, lock smith experience is also a plus.
- Basic understanding of electrical and construction
People
Skills:
- A willingness and aptitude to patiently train residents in various vocational skills
- Must be able to impart sound Biblical advice and encouragement to residents as required or requested
- Must possess the courage to hold others accountable for broken rules and un‑Christ-like actions
Personal Character:
- A mature Christian character verified by current pastor and church leaders
- Willingness to grow and mature
- Willingness to function under authority
- Developed ability to accept responsibility for mistakes, as well as receiving correction and instruction
- Developed ability to express gratefulness during times of stress and difficulty while avoiding grumbling or complaining.
- Not easily offended and a willingness to work through conflicts with others to a unifying resolution
Coming for a 3‑4 day interview may be required. This may seem extreme but it has given us proven success. We want you to get to know us and us to get to know you. This environment is not for everyone and we want you to get a realistic picture of what your ministry here would look like. We will pay reasonable traveling expenses.
