PurposeThe Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer’s mission is to provide a lifetime of free, comprehensive support to pediatric cancer patients and their families through mental, behavioral, educational, and social services, so they can cope in the present and thrive in the future. The Foundation provides these services through its Education Advancement Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, as well as virtually, all at no cost to families.
Services are funded solely through the generous donations of its supporters.
The Volunteer Services Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the Austin Hatcher Foundation by developing, coordinating, and managing volunteer engagement efforts across the organization. This position is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, training, engaging, and retaining volunteers who support the Foundation’s clinical programs, events, development activities, and community engagement initiatives.
The Volunteer Services Coordinator also provides direct leadership and oversight of the Teen Ambassador Program (TAP) and coordinates Parent Volunteers, corporate and civic groups, and individual/community volunteers.
Working collaboratively with Human Resources, Clinical Services, Family Services, Development, and Marketing, the Volunteer Services Coordinator ensures volunteers are appropriately screened, trained, placed, supported, and connected to the Foundation’s mission.
Core Responsibilities- Serve as a visible and enthusiastic ambassador for the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer, actively promoting its mission, programs, and impact.
- Advocate for families navigating the effects of pediatric cancer through compassionate community engagement.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure volunteer activities, events, and initiatives align with organizational values, priorities, and strategic goals.
- Foster a welcoming, professional, and mission-driven culture for all volunteers.
- Continue to develop, implement, and improve the Foundation’s organization-wide volunteer strategy to support clinical programs, clinical and development events, and community engagement initiatives.

- Corporate and Civic Group Volunteers
- Individual and Community Volunteers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteers to encourage continued involvement, engagement, and connection to the Foundation.
- Assess volunteer needs in partnership with Foundation departments and match qualified volunteers with appropriate opportunities.
- Develop systems and processes that support consistent and effective volunteer management across the organization.
