Job Summary and QualificationsThe Infection Prevention Specialist ensures all aspects of the infection control program/plan are in place to prevent and control the spread of infections.
What you will do in this role:- Support the implementation and maintenance of an effective organizational-wide program for surveillance, prevention and control of infections.
- Coordinate with employee health regarding blood borne pathogens exposures, vaccination requirements, and policy development.
- Competent in Thera Doc surveillance.
- Maintain NSHN access;
Submit data to NHSN in an accurate and timely manner; maintain all requirements set forth by CMS and HCA. - Responsible to educate individuals and groups about the risks, prevention, transmission and control of infections, disease specific care, appropriate precautions and appropriate assessments.
- Active rounding throughout facilities to observe practices, perform surveillance, provide in-time education to healthcare team, and advise leadership, staff, medical staff and other professionals. Correspond, provide education and advise patients and families as indicated.
- Provide updates to and consults with Medical Director of Infection Prevention as needed, including routine meetings to evaluate all hospital-acquired infections.
- Compile infection data and provide support for the reporting of data to required committees, including but not limited to MEC and BOG.
- Provide information, communicate, and coordinate with local and national public health agencies as required for State and CMS.
- Respond to crises situations related to Infection Control/Risk of Infections.
- Identify and investigate infection clusters, outbreaks, and/or unusual pathogens and initiate appropriate control measures
