McCallie seeks an experienced nurse to join the Student Health Center team to support students, campers, and others in the McCallie community. This individual will actively cultivate good working relationships between the Health Center and students, parents, residential community members, and area health care providers.

The nurse provides nursing coverage from 6:30 am - 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Coverage is required year-round while summer camp programs are in session and during the school year when school is in session, or when the dormitories are open.

This is a full-time twelve month, hourly non-exempt position and is eligible for full benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely dispense prescription medications according to physician orders;
• safely dispense over-the-counter medications according to the McCallie Student Health Center Standing Orders;
• provide nursing care/first aid for the illnesses and injuries of students, faculty/staff, and families of faculty/staff who live on campus;
• assist students in the management of chronic health conditions;
• be prepared to respond to health emergencies on campus and communicate/work with the designated Faculty Campus Coverage;
• document nursing actions in a timely manner;
• provide student transportation to and from appointments when necessary.

Requirements

• Current RN or LPN license with the state of Tennessee, RN highly preferred
• Current CPR/BLS training
• Experience in clinical nursing practice
• Computer proficiency for web-based documentation
• Ability to work independently according to health center established protocols and procedures under the supervision of the Director of the McCallie Student Health Center and within the scope of nursing practice for the State of Tennessee
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with students and parents, with faculty/staff, and with other members of the Student Health Center staff
• Valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record
• Prior experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred
• Deep understanding of, support for, and desire to live out McCallie's mission for the good of McCallie boys - including both the school's Christian foundation and its commitment to the ideals of honor, truth, and duty

Physical Requirements /Qualifications :

The McCallie School is located on the side of Missionary Ridge. This position works at the McCallie Student Health Center which is on campus. Some work is performed at a desk, but the job also requires moving to tend to patients in the Student Health Center and in other locations on campus. Some driving - either of a golf cart or a car - is required to transport patients or run errands.
