Job Summary
Erlanger is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Pediatric Cardiology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a collaborative inpatient cardiology team. This position provides the opportunity to care for pediatric patients with complex congenital and acquired heart conditions in a hospital‑based setting while working closely with pediatric cardiologists and multidisciplinary care teams. The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no weekend or overnight shifts, and is strictly inpatient‑based.
ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive inpatient care to pediatric patients admitted for cardiac evaluation and management, including:
- Perform detailed histories and physical examinations, assess and monitor cardiac status, and develop evidence‑based treatment plans.
- Participate in daily rounds and respond to clinical changes in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary services.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies (laboratory tests, imaging, cardiac diagnostics) and participate in care planning for pre‑ and post‑procedural patients.
- Support patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and follow‑up plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and adhere to hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and quality standards.
- Contribute to team‑based care, quality improvement, and performance evaluation processes.
Required:
- Master's of Science degree in Nursing (MSN).
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical care experience.
- Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills, organizational functions, policies and regulations, current trends and new developments, and applicable principles and practices of nursing.
Preferred:
- Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, though not required.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Tennessee.
- Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license in the state of Tennessee.
- National specialty certification (e.g., ACNP, ANP, CCNS, FNP).
- Certificate of fitness from the state of Tennessee (as required by specialty).
- BLS certification completed prior to assignment and maintained thereafter.
Regular – Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., no weekend or overnight shifts.
