Job Summary

A Nurse Technician 1 provides direct patient care under the direction of a RN, including procedures, activities of daily living, and operating equipment necessary for patient care as assigned.

Required:

Will consider a nursing student (RN or LPN) within one year of graduating from an accredited nursing program.

Required:

Nursing school clinical experience.

Preferred:
Patient care related background.

License/Certification/Registration:
Must be licensed as RN or LPN.

BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and to be maintained going forward.

A Nurse Technician 1 on the 3000 Medicine Unit performs selected nursing functions under the direction of a registered nurse. The role includes direct patient care such as procedures and activities of daily living, and operating equipment necessary for patient care as assigned. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of patients served on the 3000 Medicine Unit, including familiarity with assessments and treatments of patients with acute or chronic conditions, knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan, and the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age‑specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s policies and procedures.
