Job Summary:
Registered Nurse for Pre/Post-Op in a Surgical Day Services setting, supporting preoperative preparation, moderate sedation support, and Phase 2 recovery. Provides safe, patient-centered care using established protocols and documentation standards.
Responsibilities:
- Initiate and maintain peripheral IV access and secure lines for surgical readiness.
- Prepare surgical patients for procedures and ensure readiness for transition to the operating room.
- Monitor patients during and after moderate sedation, including Phase 2 recovery assessment.
- Perform and assist with advanced invasive access procedures including arterial lines, central lines, and nerve blocks as indicated/credentialed.
- Apply continuous patient monitoring and respond promptly to abnormal findings using clinical judgment.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient status in Meditech according to unit workflow.
- Possess a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Demonstrate IV start competency and reliable access skills for preoperative patients.
- Hold current ACLS and PALS certifications.
- Demonstrate moderate sedation experience and knowledge of sedation safety principles.
- Have Phase 2 recovery experience and familiarity with post-sedation monitoring and discharge readiness.
- Apply proficiency with cardiac monitors and EKG/ultrasound-related workflow as required.
- Develop advanced perioperative skills within a focused surgical day services environment.
- Strengthen clinical documentation and patient monitoring practices using standardized systems.
- Build experience working alongside established unit tech and support staff to improve efficiency and outcomes.
