Job Summary

Schedule:

Monday
- Friday 8a-4p, must participate in the on-call rotation

The RN Coordinator is responsible for medical oversight of both the Supported Living and Residential Habilitation sites, which includes:

  • Supervision of the LPNs, who provide skilled care to the individuals who reside in the homes.
  • Evaluation of LPN Job Performance every 6 months utilizing the DIDD approved performance review form.
  • Review of MARs each month for errors and/or corrections, obtaining new orders as needed form the ordering physician.
  • Maintain MARs on file for a period of three years.
  • Supervise the scheduling of quarterly MAR and medication cabinet checks at each site.
  • Maintain open communication with OGC Health Care Services, outside providers and OGC med certified staff.
  • Participate in pharmacy reviews and oversight of narcotic disposal process.
  • Participate in the nursing on call rotation to ensure medical support is available 24/7.

In addition, the RN Coordinator will also have the responsibility for the medical oversight for the Day Services Program. This will include:

  • Evaluation of LPN Job Performance every 6 months utilizing the DIDD approved performance review form.
  • Consulting with LPN Day Services Manager regarding any Medical Oversight needs or questions.
  • Final Review and signature of monthly MAR checks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervision of the LPN staff
  • Routinely visits and maintain contact with the residential sites to ensure adherence to medication administration protocol.
  • Consults with parents, conservators, physicians and other members of the individual’s Circle of Support to monitor health needs.
  • Participates, as needed, in health related COS meetings.
  • Completes, or assures the completion, of the AIMS test on the required scheduled basis for individuals on psychotropic medications.
  • Assist staff with the completion of the DIDD Medication Variance forms as needed.
  • Prints off daily orders form HCS and distributes to appropriate staff.
  • Follows guidelines and updates OGC Medication Administration Policy by collaborating with DIDD Regional nurses to ensure compliance with guidelines and health related requirements of the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
  • Creates a Plan of Care (POC) and maintains it for individuals who require nursing services that generate billable Medicaid Waiver/ECF nursing units. The nurse will be required to provide an updated POC as requested by the ISC to ensure the continued approval of billable nursing units.
  • Notify the ordering physician or nurse practitioners, using the appropriate notification form, regarding variances.
  • Complete the monthly variance Track and Trend from with actions and outcomes.
  • Completes and submits billing calendars before the 10th of every month, for the prior month.
  • “Promotes a positive, professional and cooperative attitude with both internal and external providers and staff.”
  • Maintain med certification expiration dates for all unlicensed staff and register for class 30 days prior to the expiration of certification.
  • Maintain documentation of RN delegations to staff, as it pertains to certain tasks.
  • Maintain current CPR/FA and RN License.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be added as the job needs progress.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

BSN is preferred. Current Tennessee RN license required. Minimum of five years nursing experience and two years management experience required. Experience with the Developmentally Disabled population strongly preferred. Overall health must be adequate to allow for accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities. Must meet all requirements for employment at Orange Grove Center.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of the Medication Administration Course. Must be able and willing to work and meet the demands of a flexible schedule and participate in on-call rotation.
