American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Colorectal Telemetry position requiring 2 years of med/surg experience and ACLS certification.

• Work in the Med-Surg Colorectal unit (5 South) of an acute care hospital
• 30-bed unit caring for colorectal cancer, ileus, and post-surgical patients, as well as osteomyelitis, sepsis, and pneumonia diagnoses
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:5 on day shift and 1:6 on night shift
• Unit utilizes LPNs on day shift and PCTs at a ratio of 12-15 patients per PCT
• Charge nurse present each shift, typically taking an assignment
• RNs titrate drips including amiodarone, heparin, insulin, and Cardizem
• Uses High Flow and BiPAP respiratory equipment for under 24 hours, requiring troubleshooting by RN
• GE tele monitors used with virtual monitoring only; no on-site monitor techs, so RNs read their own EKG strips
• EPIC charting system used
• 12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p, with every other weekend or less frequent weekend requirement
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• On-call required as a last resort for travelers
• Floating to other units required
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling both available

• Active RN license (State or Compact/NLC) for the state of submission required; pending licenses not accepted, TN or compact license required
• BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience required
• BSN not required
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips independently
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

• Provide direct patient care to colorectal surgical and medical patients, including drip titration and respiratory equipment monitoring
• 3-shift unit/department-specific orientation provided
• Navy blue scrubs required for dress code
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Candidates who were previously employed full time, part time, or PRN directly by the health system within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
