Position: Electrical & Instrumentation QA / QC Specialist (per diem available)

Overview

Serve as the owner's field quality representative overseeing electrical and instrumentation installations on an industrial capital project. Responsible for ensuring contractor work meets project specifications, applicable codes, and established quality control procedures.

New Johnsonville, TN (per diem available). Position Type:
Full‑time contract, with project completion expected end of 2026. Compensation: $65.00‑$85.00/hr depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits:
Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Holidays, etc. 401k after a probationary period. Drug and background screenings required.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee electrical and instrumentation construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.
  • Inspect contractor installations involving 480V MCCs, instrumentation, control systems, DCS equipment, cable trays, conduit, wiring, and associated electrical systems.
  • Verify that contractors are following approved installation methods, inspection plans, and quality control procedures.
  • Review electrical and instrumentation work for compliance with project drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Identify, document, and communicate quality deficiencies, non‑conformances, and corrective actions to contractors and project management.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction management, operations, and contractors to resolve installation and quality issues.
  • Monitor contractor workmanship and ensure installations meet owner expectations before turnover.
  • Witness inspections, testing, and commissioning activities as required to verify system readiness.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, quality documentation, and daily field reports.
  • Promote safe work practices while supporting project schedule and construction milestones.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in electrical and instrumentation QA/QC within industrial construction or manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience inspecting and overseeing electrical and instrumentation installations on capital construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of 480V Motor Control Centers (MCCs), power distribution systems, and industrial electrical installations.
  • Hands‑on experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), instrumentation, and process control systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one‑line diagrams, wiring schematics, P&IDs, loop drawings, and construction specifications.
  • Experience ensuring contractor compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Strong understanding of industrial construction practices, installation methods, inspection procedures, and quality documentation.
  • Experience identifying quality deficiencies, documenting non‑conformances, and verifying corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with engineering, construction, operations, and contractor personnel.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and electronic documentation systems.
  • Ability to work full‑time in a field construction environment, including walking active job sites and climbing stairs or ladders as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting chemical, petrochemical, refining, power generation, or other heavy industrial facilities.
  • Previous experience serving as an Owner's Representative or owner's quality inspector on industrial capital projects.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, pre‑startup inspections, and system turnover documentation.
  • Current OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
