The CMM Operator / Programmer is responsible for inspecting finished goods, gauges, test stands, fixtures, and related items to ensure conformance to drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role programs, sets up, operates, and optimizes Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipment while supporting new product development through the creation and revision of inspection programs.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7:00AM-5:00PM
Key Responsibilities- Responsible for the programming, setup, calibration, and operation of the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
- Troubleshoots CMM programs, probes, fixtures, and measurement issues
- Maintains the condition of all CMM equipment and accessories
- Optimizes existing CMM programs to improve efficiency
- Identifies opportunities to improve measurement methods and inspection processes
- Interprets GD&T requirements and product specifications
- Verifies specified dimensions of products and raw materials using calipers, CMM, height gauges, scales, and other precision measuring equipment
- Measures dimensions including diameter, height, wall thickness, and other critical characteristics
- Conducts First Article, In-Process, Incoming, and Final Inspections
- Conducts new product validation activities
- Documents inspection results by completing reports, maintaining logs, and entering data into quality databases
- Executes timely and accurate disposition of nonconforming material
- Supports root cause analysis and corrective action activities
- Performs QC Technician duties as assigned
- Provides support to other departments for quality planning, process development, and related activities
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret GD&T blueprints, CAD models, and technical drawings
- Ability to utilize manual and visual inspection equipment including calipers, gauges, digital indicators, surface plates, optical comparators, and CMM equipment
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to analyze data to support process optimization
- Strong understanding of Zeiss Calypso software; experience with MCOSMOS is a plus
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Three (3) to five (5) years of Quality Assurance or Quality Control experience utilizing a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) required
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred but not required
- Ability to lift and handle a minimum of 20 pounds repeatedly and up to 45 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may be hot or cold
- Ability to wear required PPE at all times (safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.)
