JOB DESCRIPTION

Role Overview

Security Engineers is seeking a dedicated full-time Utility Officer to help maintain safe and secure environments for clients. Officers deter incidents through visibility, vigilance, and proactive engagement. Responsibilities include patrolling, monitoring access points, verifying identification, responding to alarms and emergencies, and maintaining detailed logs. This role requires professionalism, strong observational skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have or be able to obtain a valid Security Officer/Guard License as required by the state licensing authority
• Valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle report that meets company-approved driver standards
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Ability and willingness to obtain an armed security license is preferred

Duties & Responsibilities

• Patrol & Surveillance – Conduct walking and vehicle patrols to identify and report safety concerns; monitor access points; verify IDs and credentials; monitor surveillance systems for threats or suspicious activity
• Incident Response & Reporting – Respond to alarms, emergencies, and incidents per protocol; maintain accurate logs of activities and incidents; perform routine security tasks (e.g., locking/unlocking doors)
• Customer Service & Policy Enforcement – Assist visitors and employees professionally; enforce site-specific Post Orders and security protocols; ensure compliance with SEI and client policies (e.g., smoking, loitering, parking)

Required Skills & Abilities

Minimum

• Ability to perform in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
• Weekend availability
• Strong situational awareness and problem-solving skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective in critical situations
• Basic computer skills; ability to use tablets for reporting

Preferred

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

Physical Requirements (With or Without reasonable accommodation) (subject to change based on client-specific needs)

• Stand/sit for at least 1 hour without break
• Walk a minimum of ½ mile without stopping
• Climb at least 20 commercial facility stairs without stopping

Education & Experience

Minimum

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred

• 1+ years verifiable Military, Law Enforcement or Security Experience
• 2+ years of verifiable customer service experience

High School Diploma or equivalent

Able to obtain any and all security certifications/licenses. Tennessee Unarmed Security License is preferred. State Issued Driver's License (Not Expired).

This is a Full-Time position with 1st Shift, 2nd Shift, 3rd Shift, School Hours, Weekends, Summers, and Full Time Floater options. Relocation is not provided and travel is required frequently.
