Forklift Mechanic

The Forklift Mechanic ensures forklifts remain in optimal condition through regular maintenance, timely repairs, and strict adherence to safety standards, supporting operational efficiency and workplace safety.

• Maintenance & Repairs:
  Perform routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance on forklifts, including brake, hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems
• Troubleshooting:
  Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, detect safety issues, and replace defective parts.
• System Expertise:
  Work on LP, gas, and electric; repair mast, attachment, and reach mechanisms; and maintain steering and drive units.
• Repairs:
  Work from a work order driven system via daily inspection reports
• Team Coordination:
  Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure fleet readiness and compliance with operational schedules

• 2+ years of experience in a related field, including maintenance of various lifts
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair as needed
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to meet all safety standards
• Self-motivated flexible team-player, with a service-oriented mind set and the persistence to following through on commitments in a timely manner.
• Ability to read/interpret schematics and equipment manuals.
• Strong time management and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task in fast paced, deadline driven environment, as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Works with minimal supervision. Issues and concerns need to be communicated to the supervisor

• Lifting:
  Frequently raises objects from a lower to a higher position or moves objects horizontally from position-to position. Weight is often more than 50 lbs.
• Push/Pull:
  Frequently uses upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Weight is often more than 50 lbs.
• Reaching:
  Extends hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Weight is usually more than 50 lbs.
• Stooping:
  Bends body downward and forward at the waist. Weight is usually more than 50 lbs.
• Standing :
  Standing for sustained periods at a time.
• Walking:
  Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks often for sustained periods of time.

Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant.
