What you can expect as an Avionics Maintenance Technician at West Star- Perform general avionics support items on aircraft, including removal and installation of panels and components, and repair work.
- Troubleshoot and evaluate systems on the aircraft when designated.
- Inspect and evaluate the aircraft and components when designated.
- Verify aircraft movement and performance of systems.
- Maintain and repair shop facility, equipment, and tooling to support operations.
- Work with customer in project management, pricing and customer support roles.
- Work independently on projects.
- Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
- Effectively and clearly communicate (speak, write, read) in English.
- Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
A high school diploma or equivalent. Electronics or avionic factory training is preferred. A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not mandatory.
Your Experience Tech I- 0‑2 years of experience in avionics, military avionics, or electrical field.
- Limited to no knowledge of the position; requires close supervision and constant check‑ins on work performance.
- 2‑4 years of experience in avionics or military avionics field.
- Considerable knowledge of the job with a broad understanding of detailed aspects; requires general supervision and instructions.
- 4‑6 years of experience in avionics or military avionics field.
- Full knowledge of the job and complete understanding of detailed aspects; limited supervision required.
- Can act as a trainer or mentor to other technicians.
- 6+ years’ experience with corporate/business avionics systems.
- Exclusive knowledge in all areas of the job.
- Subject matter expert with wide and comprehensive knowledge.
We’re looking for team players who are self‑motivated and can perform in a fast‑paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. Dealing with customers and performing work with minimal supervision are required.
Your Sense Of Responsibility- Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments.
- Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
- Must have reliable transportation to get to work each day.
- Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
- Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
- Maintain customer‑oriented work habits.
- Lifts 50 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
- Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas.
- Basic computer skills.
- Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
- Troubleshoot, evaluate and perform functional tests for various avionics and instrument systems.
- Work with others in a professional manner.
Work under supervision of assigned Avionics Team Leader.
Working Conditions- Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.
- Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
- Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
- Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
- Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
- Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
- Tugs, power carts and other engine‑powered equipment.
- Crimpers, soldering iron and heat guns.
- Personal computer and work order prints.
