Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable Commercial Dock & Door Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial dock equipment and overhead door systems. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and experience working independently in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair commercial/industrial overhead doors, dock levelers, dock seals/shelters, vehicle restraints, gates, and related equipment.
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to identify issues and determine corrective actions.
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance in accordance with company and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve emergency service issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete accurate service tickets, work orders, and documentation using mobile service software.
  • Maintain company tools, vehicle, and equipment in clean and safe working condition.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, communicating clearly in person and through email with facility managers and customers on recommended repairs and project updates.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety protocols and OSHA standards.
  • Assist with training junior technicians as needed.
Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years’ experience working as a commercial dock and door technician (or similar mechanical/industrial role).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience installing and servicing major brands.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 75+ lbs, work at heights, and handle physically demanding tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Preferred Skills
  • Certifications such as IDEA, OSHA 10/30, Welding, or manufacturer‑specific technical training.
  • Experience with low‑voltage wiring and control systems.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
Work Environment & Schedule

Field-based role requiring travel to customer sites. Occasional overtime, on‑call rotations, or emergency service work may be required.
