Messer owns and operates a World Class fleet repair and refurbishment center in Chattanooga, Tennessee where the team performs maintenance, repair, and refurbishment work on transport equipment to ensure safe and reliable assets for the company.
The core work of the site is to restore fleet trailers to "Like New" condition. In addition to welding and fabrication work, the site also completes assembly, wiring, hydraulics, pneumatics, rebuilding components, testing, and certification of equipment.
- Ensure work is performed with high level of quality, meeting Messer safety standards, and in an efficient manner, to plan and budget.
- Fabricate new parts and components for transport equipment.
- Install components in compliance with manufacturer guidelines (i.e., brake/ABS/suspension systems, air system, electrical/lighting, etc.).
- Repair components, when necessary, versus component replacement.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic knowledge of heavy‑duty components & system.
- Basic mechanic’s tool set/toolbox.
- High school degree or GED required.
- 2 years previous welding experience OR a welding diploma/certification from a Vocational/Technical school.
- 2 years previous Fabrication experience.
- Ability to read blueprints & flowcharts.
- Fabricate sub‑structures from reference to drawings/blueprints.
- Ability to read wiring and hydraulics diagrams and blueprints.
- Creative thinking mindset to suggest improvements and changes.
