Overview

The purpose of this classification is to coordinate the design, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of the parent, school, and community involvement programs in the district to best support English Learners. The coordinator will implement student support strategies, be accountable for student outcomes, and facilitate resources towards closing the opportunity gap for English Learners. The role will also be responsible for administration and compliance related to providing ENL services and utilization of any federal, state, or private funds.

The role will work with community partners to provide comprehensive wrap‑around supports for students and families, connecting international families to schools and other community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with community organizations and HCS partners; works to provide support and referral services to immigrant children and youth, migrant children, and families with limited English proficiency.
  • Works in conjunction with HCS Community and Family Partnership Specialists to coordinate services and resources for families of immigrant children and youth, migrant students and families, and families with limited English proficiency through community partners, in collaboration and in alignment with community schools framework. Manages all enrollment for migratory children as the migrant liaison and ensures their data is accurate in the migrant system.
  • Develops and maintains business, community, non‑profit and faith‑based partnerships in order to provide both academic and social emotional support services for students, families, guardians, and ESOL educators.
  • Implements department programs or initiatives designed to provide wrap‑around support for students and families.
  • Collaborates and coordinates services with schools, various central office departments, and community partners to provide cohesive support for all English learners to improve student growth and achievement.
  • Develops and implements budget as assigned; monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budget.
  • Seeks additional funding opportunities through grant writing, private and government funds.
  • Secures funding to develop a translator certification program for multilingual high school students.
  • Provides translation services as needed.
  • Provides courteous and efficient customer service to our schools and families to best support community involvement.
  • Aligns all work to the department action plan.
  • Supports the collection of high‑quality data and uses data to identify priorities for training and support (at the district and school level).
  • Collects data on the implementation and delivery of services.
  • Provides ongoing progress reports to Hamilton County Schools leadership, including the ESOL Director and Literacy Officer.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of operations and programs in conjunction with the Accountability & Research department; identifies and recommends improvements or enhancements.
  • Maintains district communication lines, including emails, Canvas course, and social media platforms.
  • Escalates through the proper channels to keep supervisor and other appropriate personnel informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature.
  • Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times, including reporting to work as scheduled/on‑time and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Serves as a role model and demonstrates leadership and professionalism.
  • Maintains familiarity with current educational high impact practices and issues.
  • Performs administrative tasks, which may include returning phone calls, word processing, filing documentation, or processing email; complies with accounting and financial policies and procedures involving the handling of money and property, as well as other Board policies.
