This position requires a Federal NCIC background check and fingerprinting prior to accepting the position and every five (5) years thereafter as a condition of continued employment in the position. Under general supervision, performs responsible support services and tasks associated with the operation and activities involving informal adjustments for Juvenile Court. Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, physical requirements, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics.

Provides a variety of functions and services in dealing with first-time offenders; interviews, gathers information and recommends appropriate sanctions as an alternative to filing a petition; identifies community resources relevant to the facts of the case; imposes fines, restitution, community service and/or other sanctions; works with parents, custodians, victims, law enforcement and others; sets informal hearing dates and status dates. Monitors compliance to conditions;
determines appropriate response to failure to comply; initiates and drafts petitions; sets dates for hearing; advises appropriate parties regarding future and on-going court activities and schedules; compiles and completes reports, findings and related activities; maintains on-going records, files, statistical reports and worksheets regarding individual case activity. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of applicable State of Tennessee statutes, rules, administrative orders, policies and procedures, applicable Federal rules and requirements. Knowledge of Hamilton County Policies and Procedures. Knowledge of the basic principles of file maintenance, bookkeeping, case and records management. Knowledge of legal terminology and court processes and procedures. Knowledge of community resources. Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with court employees, attorneys, law enforcement, victims, witnesses, interested parties and the public.
Skill in communicating effectively and producing written documents and written reports for public dissemination. Skill in interviewing people, reviewing records and reports to gather and present relevant information. Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications. Skill effectively communicating in both oral and written form.
A Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, sociology, justice studies, or a related field. A valid driver's license is required. OR An Associate's Degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, sociology, justice studies, or a related field and two (2) years of direct work experience in a juvenile court environment, case management, social work, behavioral health, or a related field involving at-risk or troubled youth or juveniles involved in the court system.

OR The equivalent of a high school diploma and four (4) years of direct work experience in a juvenile court environment, case management, social work, behavioral health, or a related field involving at risk or troubled youth or juveniles involved in the court system. A valid driver's license is required.
Additional requirements:
This position requires a Federal NCIC background check and fingerprinting prior to accepting the position and every five (5) years thereafter as a condition of continued employment in the position. Prior to operating a County-owned vehicle, all employees are required to complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level.
Physical requirements:
Work requires limited physical effort and primarily involves extended sitting, intermittent standing, intermittent walking, and extensive typing/computer keyboarding. This position may require the occasional lifting and carrying of up to twenty-five 25 pounds. Work involves the potential for bodily harm and exposure to infectious diseases. Work involves the potential for physical harm and emotional stress related working in and around at-risk juveniles and their families.
