What You'll Do:

We are looking for Sr Platform Engineer with 5+ years' experience to manage our growing infrastructure and build tools to increase the productivity of the engineering team. Platform Engineers at U.S. Xpress are part of the Cloud Ops and Infrastructure team. They are extremely code savvy via cloud- native approach, function using software engineering paradigms, extensively use infrastructure as code, deploy applications at scale on Kubernetes and work with several AWS core services.

They also work closely with backend, frontend, mobile and data engineering teams.

* Develop web APIs for automating resources creations

* Creating custom Git Hub Actions for building applications

* Developing script modules to deploy applications to end platform

* Developing a framework to backup/restore from an AWS account containing EKS, EC2, RDS, etc.

* Gain knowledge about Kubernetes and develop controllers to auto remediate issues inside EKS cluster

* Work on IAAC using terraform to create resources using the best practices that enables reporting and monitoring

* Engage in idea/knowledge transfer within team and with the development teams

* Mentoring junior developers in all technical aspects such as design and implementation

* Harden the security of the accounts but at the same time allow the ease of deployment

What We're Looking For:

Education

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field or equivalent experience required. Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.

Experience

* Excellent programming knowledge in any one of Golang or Python

* Excellent Knowledge of container platform like docker and Kubernetes

* Experience using AWS console and creating resources in AWS

* Experience in terminal-based languages like bash and Power Shell

* Experience in debugging issues in Linux systems

* Ability to write Helm Charts for deploying any type of resource

* In depth knowledge and experience working in Kubernetes resources especially RBAC, Name spaces, HPA and PDBs

* Have coded IAAC using an infrastructure creation tool such as terraform or pulumi

* Experience troubleshooting Linux systems be it in server or docker
