JOB SUMMARYThe Yard Coordinator is responsible for providing front line leadership in the daily yard functions related to safety and quality. The Yard Coordinator will also perform dispatch, load adjustments possible load build duties utilizing the Transportation Management System, and provide backup support in the absence of the Terminal Supervisor. Compliance, accountability, and leadership will be the key focus for the Yard Coordinator to ensure all policies and procedures are being followed by our driving associates and third party carriers.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Support all organizational and customer commitments to achieving their mission, vision and goals. It is important for the yard coordinator to understand the network logistics and business acumen of their terminal in order to effectively communicate information appropriately to drivers, shop, and external customers.
- Confirm compliance of legal and company policies, as well as load, driver, and equipment guidelines
- Ensure consistent enforcement of DOT and OSHA laws and policies at all times by all associates.
- Complete random fleet evaluations and immediately take non-compliant equipment out of service. In addition, communicate all related concerns (or issues) to driver manager.
- Ensure the loading yard is safe for all associates. Keeping it clean and clear.
- During weather events deemed unsafe through guidance of the Safety department pause or shut down loading areas.
- Ensure all drivers are working in a safe manner. Immediately stop and address any unsafe activities or unsafe equipment issues.
- Address any found equipment defects with the driver associates and involve the USAL Shops and/or drivers supervisor.
- Respond appropriately and within a timely manner in the event of an injury, equipment failure, and/or safety related incident.
- Follow guidelines, procedures, and document findings with USAL Quality and/or the driver’s supervisor for damages found or caused by associates.
- Adjust driver loads in transportation management system in the event of a found defect or driver caused damage. Rebuild the load and dispatch the driver.
- At the direction of management, dispatch and coordinate drivers as needed in accordance with network logistics objectives.
- Administer and provide feedback on the completion of road tests as part of the new hire interview process.
- Maintain professional appearance in compliance with company uniform guidelines.
- Fosters relationships with internal and external customers to support business continuity and growth through professional behavior and exhibiting C.O.R.E values at all times.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the company and business partners.
- Must be able to travel and work at other USAL locations outside of your home terminal, if needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Responsibly receive, transmit, and handle consumer and customer data per applicable policies and procedures.
- Review and follow data privacy practices, policies, and guidelines.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required plus one (1) year of previous car hauling experience at USAL.
- Actively utilized valid Class-A CDL within the past 2 years.
- Minimum of six months of certified driver trainer and/or lead driver experience with USAL, preferred.
- Clear motor vehicle record and pre-employment screening program report (PSP).
- Possess safe driving record for last three years.
- Demonstrated Class “A” commercial driver’s skills for large trucks and trailers;
Demonstrate pertinent knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations; i.e. HOS, Pre trip, in transit and post trip inspections. - Proficient in the English language.
