Overview
To collaborate with transportation providers to ensure prompt shipments and pick-ups are made to meet customer due dates in the most accurate and cost-effective way.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and negotiate freight rates with transportation providers to ensure prompt and proper movement of shipments
- Monitor all outbound shipments to ensure orders are in transit as scheduled
- Communicate any issues, delays, or budget restraints with our sales team
- Review purchase orders and shipping documents to ensure accuracy
- Prepare Bill of Ladings and send finalized shipping documents to billing
- Develop processes that make the supply chain more efficient and organized
- Enter receivers/manifests of material from steel mills via Rail or Truck
- Manage a shipping schedule to accurately show sales/billing daily shipments
- Read and understand material certifications
- Manage and ensure traffic flow through the warehouse is working
- Experience in a Logistics related field
- Knowledge using computers and other common office equipment
- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English; able to multitask and stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Physical requirements:
standing for prolonged periods; walking; using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; talking or hearing; vision requirements (close, distance, depth perception, and adjust focus)
