The Shuttle/Yard Driver is a dual role. As a Shuttle Driver, you travel to and from plant sites delivering items, operate and inspect equipment daily, and maintain the operating condition of that equipment. As a Yard Driver, you respond to customer requests regarding movement and spotting of trailers to facilitate warehouse and plant operations, manage on‑hand equipment inventory, and conduct daily equipment inventory in the yard.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain a neat and orderly storage lot oriented toward maximizing efficiency.
- Account for records involving trailer numbers and vehicle positions.
- Function and interact daily with warehouse supervisors, complying with safety requirements.
- Communicate using cellular telephone or 2‑way radio with operations and warehouse personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
- Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, following signals from the loading crew, and place safety wheel chocks and jack stands appropriately.
- Use airline, electrical hookup, and backing procedures correctly.
- Follow all company policies, guidelines, and quality procedures.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment daily.
- Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse and yard.
- Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are delivered promptly without damage.
- Deliver equipment and product timely and without damage, ensuring proper documentation accompanies freight.
- Document each load appropriately for each site.
- Maintain a clean, neat, orderly work area and assist in warehouse security.
- Comply with all SOPs, corporate and site‑specific policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS standards, and participate in safety meetings.
- Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product using forklift, clamp truck, drum attachment, or other power equipment.
- Keep facility equipment neat, clean, and orderly, inspecting and reporting defects for repair.
- Operate all equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed methods.
- Maintain an active Class A CDL certification.
- Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
- Fuel trucks as needed and perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year experience in logistics, distribution, or a related environment.
- Valid Class A CDL and Health Card.
- Class A CDL and Health Card – valid and up to date.
- Basic computer skills.
- English (reading, writing, verbal).
- Basic to intermediate level to verify and perform other duties associated with handling, storing, and distributing client products.
- Basic reading and writing skills.
- Ability to read and follow manufacturer’s instruction manuals.
- Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or within a group.
- Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast‑pace environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in accomplishing job tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
- Clean driving record.
- Class A CDL required.
- 1‑2 years experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
- 1‑2 years driving experience.
