Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Warehouse Lead to join our team in Houston, TX, on a mid‑shift schedule. Position available Sunday to Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Land ’N’ Sea Distributing is a full‑service, wholesale‑only distributor serving the marine and RV industries for over 50 years. The role involves overseeing picking, packing, receiving, and dock operations to ensure timely, accurate shipments.
EssentialFunctions
- Lead and manage picker/packer personnel to ship orders according to company deadlines.
- Communicate daily with Shipping Supervisors regarding concerns, issues, and questions.
- Print orders and sort them into appropriate zones by priority.
- Train and mentor employees on proper picking and packing procedures.
- Delegate daily tasks to shipping staff, including cleaning and other duties as needed.
- Follow up with shipping staff to ensure procedures are being followed.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the shipping dock and pick areas.
- Coordinate with receiving staff to resolve zero‑stock issues.
- Research picking errors and collaborate with the Shipping Supervisor to address them.
- Operate in all shipping areas: picking, packing, ship station, running orders, running manifests, etc.
- Lead dock personnel in offloading trucks and ensure purchase orders are organized on the dock or racks.
- Communicate daily with the Receiving Supervisor regarding concerns, issues, and questions.
- Maintain an updated Receiving Log.
- Train and mentor receiving staff on proper receiving procedures.
- Delegate work to receiving staff and monitor compliance with procedures.
- Ensure the dock and receiving areas remain organized and clean.
- Assist shipping staff in achieving zero‑stock goals.
- Spot‑check receivers and research exceptions.
- Enter receivers into the system and process exceptions consistently.
- Adhere to company policies, including attendance, ethics, and job procedures.
- Enforce safety rules, report unsafe conditions, and address them immediately.
- Complete and sign daily equipment checklists.
- Operate all material‑handling equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers, after training.
- Perform tasks in other areas as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Dependable attendance and strong teamwork skills.
- Prior forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Basic computer skills.
- Prior warehouse experience is a plus.
While performing the duties of this job, employees frequently stand, walk, bend, balance, and use arms and hands to reach, pull, push, clasp, and move materials. Walkways are concrete and/or metal grating. Employees may lift or move up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently. The warehouse environment can be hot or cold and dusty. The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $19.00 per hour;
actual base pay will vary based on qualifications and business needs.
