Job Summary The Material Handler is responsible for safely moving, storing, and tracking materials, products, and inventory throughout the facility. This position supports production, shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations by ensuring materials are available when needed and handled according to company safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, inspect, and unload incoming shipments.
- Accurately store materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Pick, stage, and prepare materials for production or customer orders.
- Load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Transport raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the facility.
- Accurately verify quantities and product information against packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documents.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
- Keep warehouse and work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, or equipment issues to supervisors.
- Support shipping, receiving, and production teams as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous warehouse, manufacturing, or material handling experience preferred.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely.
- Basic computer and inventory management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment.
Working Conditions
- Warehouse or manufacturing facility environment.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and moving equipment.
- Overtime and flexible scheduling may be required based on business needs.
Preferred Skills
- Forklift certification.
- Experience with ERP, WMS, APS, or inventory control systems. Prior use of Global Shop ERP is a plus.
- Use of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.
- Understanding of warehouse safety practices and OSHA guidelines.
