Benefits And Employee Relations Coordinator
This posting is for a Benefits and Employee Relations Coordinator at the Chehalis School District office. This position is 20 hours per week, 231 days per year. This is a Classified, Non-Exempt, Non-Represented position. This position is open until filled. Anticipated start date July 1, 2026.

Description:
This position serves as a liaison between the Human Resources department and staff, providing comprehensive support in benefits administration, leave management, and employee relations. This position ensures employees receive timely, accurate guidance on SEBB benefits and workplace policies while fostering positive employee experiences across the district.

Essential Job Functions:
Benefits Administration:
- Administer School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
- Process enrollments, changes, and terminations in accordance with SEBB regulations.
- Conduct benefits orientations for new hires and open enrollment presentations for current staff.
- Serve as primary contact for benefits-related questions.
- Partner with SEBB insurance providers to maximize wellness benefits and resources available to staff.
- Coordinate employee benefits reporting and ensure compliance with Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements, including the preparation and distribution of Forms 1095-C.
- Provide information and assist with enrolling employees in the Department of Retirement Systems.
- Coordinate annual employee benefits fair.
Leave Management:
- Coordinate employee leave programs including FMLA/PFML.
- Process leave requests, maintain accurate leave records, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and district policies.
- Communicate with employees regarding leave eligibility, documentation requirements, and return-to-work procedures.
New Employee Orientation & Onboarding:
- Design, coordinate, and facilitate orientation programs for all new district employees including certificated staff, classified staff, and administrators.
- Develop orientation materials, presentations, and welcome resources that introduce district culture, policies, benefits, and support services.
- Coordinate paperwork completion, benefits enrollment, and technology setup.
- Schedule and conduct regular orientation sessions throughout the year and ensure smooth transitions for new hires from offer acceptance through their first year of employment.
- Gather feedback from new employees to continuously improve the orientation experience.
Resource & Outreach Coordination:
- Develop and distribute communications about available resources through newsletters, building visits, and digital platforms.
- Proactively reach out to building staff to ensure awareness of benefits, wellness programs, and support services.
- Build partnerships with community organizations to expand resources available to district employees.
- Conduct regular building visits to maintain visibility and accessibility.
Employee Relations Support:
- Serve as an accessible resource for building-based employees, addressing workplace concerns, answering policy questions, and providing guidance on HR procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred.
- Two years of HR experience preferred, ideally in public education or government settings.
- Knowledge of SEBB benefits and Washington State employment laws strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills with ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations, and build trust across diverse employee groups.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion.
