Step into a meaningful role supporting student success as a contract Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming school year. This opportunity centers on providing essential communication access for a 5th-grade student who is new to interpreter support. Located in an engaging educational setting, youll partner closely with educators and staff to foster an inclusive learning environment.
Enjoy a consistent full-time schedule at one school site, working 30 hours per week throughout the academic year (August to June 2027). Bring your skills and commitment to empowering young learners as part of a collaborative school community.
Qualifications and Experience- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher OR demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL Paraprofessional in an educational setting preferred
- Familiarity with facilitating communication for students who are new to using interpreters
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to student advocacy and a passion for supporting diverse communication needs
- Provide clear and accurate interpretation between ASL and spoken English for a designated 5th-grade student
- Foster student engagement and self-advocacy by adapting interpreting strategies as needed
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with educational guidelines
- Assist with student integration into classroom activities and school life
