McCallum Rock Drilling is a family-owned and operated full-service rock drilling and blasting contractor that has specialized in precision work in highly controlled environments since 1988. The company operates throughout the Western United States, supporting a wide range of projects and clients. Its services cover large-scale commercial quarries, heavy construction, road and highway construction, residential and commercial development, and utility and trenchline work.

In 2016, McCallum Powder was established to handle the manufacturing, storage, and transportation of explosive products for all blasting operations. Team members join a stable, safety-focused organization with deep experience in the drilling and blasting industry.

This is a full-time, on-site Field Technician role based in Chehalis, WA. The Field Technician supports daily drilling and blasting operations, including setting up and operating drilling equipment, loading and unloading materials, and preparing work areas in coordination with the site supervisor and drilling/blasting crew. Responsibilities include performing routine equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and reporting mechanical issues to ensure safe and reliable operation.

The role also involves following detailed instructions and safety protocols, handling tools and materials, assisting with site clean-up, and documenting work performed. Field Technicians work primarily outdoors in varying conditions, travel to job sites as needed, and collaborate closely with team members to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

• Operational skills:
  Ability to safely operate or learn to operate drilling equipment, support vehicles, and hand/power tools, with strong attention to safety procedures and site protocols.
• Technical and mechanical aptitude:
  Basic mechanical skills for routine inspections, troubleshooting, and minor maintenance of equipment, with willingness to learn more advanced tasks.
• Physical capabilities:
  Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, lift and carry materials and equipment, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding work safely.
• Safety and compliance:
  Strong commitment to safety practices, hazard awareness, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to regulatory and company safety standards.
• Teamwork and communication:
  Effective collaboration with crew members, clear communication with supervisors, and reliability in following instructions and meeting schedules.
• Driving and travel:
  Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; ability and willingness to travel to multiple job sites as required.
• Education and experience:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior experience in construction, mining, drilling, blasting, or related fields is a plus but not required.
• Additional preferred qualifications: OSHA or industry safety training, mechanical or equipment operation certifications, and familiarity with rock drilling or blasting environments.
