Maintenance Mechanic - Chehalis

The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is accepting applications for a Maintenance Mechanic 3 to perform skilled maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of buildings, equipment, mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC and other facility infrastructure within the Green Hill School campus, a Juvenile Rehabilitation maximum security facility that provides treatment services for younger offenders.

You will respond to maintenance requests, troubleshoot and repair equipment, perform inspections, maintain work areas and records, and help ensure the facility remains safe, secure, functional, and compliant with Washington state requirements. This role will also provide guidance to other maintenance staff and coordinate work with contractors and facility personnel.

Perform scheduled and routine preventative maintenance to keep facility systems and equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, and other facility systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, fixtures, doors, hardware, and utility systems to identify potential problems or safety concerns.
• Clean, lubricate, adjust, test, and service equipment according to established schedules and manufacturer recommendations.
• Replace routine maintenance items such as filters, belts, bearings, valves, fittings, hardware, and electrical components as needed.
• Document inspection, maintenance performed, equipment deficiencies, and follow-up needs.
• Assist with planning future repairs and replacements based on the condition and performance of facility equipment and systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance safely while following facility security procedures and minimizing disruption to resident programs and daily operations.
• Perform snow, ice, storm, or other weather-related facility response activities.
• Provide support during inspections, audits, contractor visits, and facility projects.
• Assist with moving, installation, setup, or removal of equipment and furnishings when required.

Four years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or Repair work.

Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in skilled mechanic trade.

• Previously demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Previously demonstrated experience and knowledge in several trades at a journey level.
