Long-Term Substitute Secretary to the High School Office

General Description:
As a school receptionist, your responsibilities involve ensuring effective communication between school administrators, parents, students, and community members. You answer phone calls and emails, welcome visitors, and support teaching and administrative staff by providing information to students and parents. Other duties include maintaining school policy and procedure documents and presenting this information to visitors. This position requires a self-motivated, highly organized person, with superior communication and computer skills.
This position also requires contact with students, faculty, parents and vendors.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Greet visitors and direct them to the appropriate departments or individuals
- Process the visitor’s identification and issue them a visitor badge to be worn while in the school building
- Answer telephones and respond to inquiries via telephone or email
- Work cooperatively with school security personnel and school resource officer monitoring security video footage and alerting administration of potential risks
- Have full knowledge of safety protocols including ALICE procedures
- Serves on the Incident Management and Safety Committee
- Receives items dropped by parents for their children and provides an orderly space for the items to be retrieved
- Perform administrative tasks, including filing and photocopying
- Write emails, memos and letters
- Assist with the preparation, organization, and implementation of standardized and school testing.
- Assist House Secretaries and Main office with attendance entry and and other similarly related school functions.
- Implement and/or develop office procedures and record systems
- Works cooperatively with Main Office and House Office administrative assistants and will fill in where and when needed
- Maintain school policy and rules in order to preserve a safe and nurturing learning environment
- Responsible for any other requests made by the administration (or designee).
- Monitor students for in school suspension.
Work Hours:
7.15 a.m.
- 2.15 p.m (6.5 hours per day)

Salary: $16 to $16 Per Hour

Chelmsford High School is a public high school located in Chelmsford Massachusetts, established in 1927. The school is based on a three-house system.
