Long-Term Substitute Early Childhood Teacher/Clerical

REPORTS TO:
Director and Assistant Director of Community Education
JOB GOAL:
To assist in the coordination of the Community Education Early Childhood Programs to ensure proper instruction and activities for students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform various instructional, clerical and other related duties, to aid in meeting the objectives of the program, including the following:
1.Plan/implement daily program for the class to meet the needs of the children.
2.Coordinate daily routine of activities, play time, meals and snacks.
3.Attend staff meetings and ongoing training.
4.Provide loving care and attention to each child and promote a healthy self-esteem in each child.
5.Supervise staff, including Early Childhood Teacher Aides and junior counselors.
6.Prepare for and participate in children's evaluations and parent conferences as needed.
7.Maintain confidentiality.
8.Maintain a positive, professional attitude and serve as a positive role model for staff.
9.Perform other related activities as required or directed.
10.Accept and adhere to all guidelines set forth.
11.Report necessary problems and/or information to co-teacher or supervisor.
12.Attend and complete all required trainings.
13.Fill in to cover classroom staff absences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Early Childhood Teacher Certification or completion of a three-credit Child Growth and
Development course, or equivalent (college preferred)
2.Experience working with age appropriate students in a school setting.
3.Knowledge of classroom preparation and record keeping requirements.
4.Related school experience desirable.
5.Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
6.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the Director of Community Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in writing by the Program Supervisor.
