Job Description

Under the supervision of the Preschool Coordinator, the social worker will use a relationship‑based model to support the psychological and social well‑being of preschool students and families. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the social worker will work closely with teachers, therapists, BCBAs, and families to conduct observations and provide therapy in the CHIPS and community settings.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Observe, assess, and treat children and families in the preschool setting and natural environments.
  • Provide dyadic work with preschoolers and their primary caregivers.
  • Provide family support, parent training, and case management.
  • Consult with teachers and related service providers.
  • Provide crisis intervention services.
  • Serve as liaison between home, school, and community resources.
  • Assist with referrals to community resources as needed.
  • Participate in team‑based initial assessments for special education eligibility.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and documentation for students.
  • Attend supervision, team meetings, and case consultations.
  • Use a collaborative approach and commit to working as an integral member of the Early Education team with administration, educators, student services team, families, and community partners.
  • Provide social‑emotional learning instruction and support in the preschool classroom.
  • Appropriately assess and report suspected abuse or neglect as a mandated reporter.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Other duties as assigned by administration.
Job Requirements
  • Must be DESE licensed as a School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor.
  • Preferred experience working with early childhood population.
  • Must have a strong commitment to equity for all students and families and contribute to an environment at CHIPS that honors and celebrates diversity.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
