Job Description

Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following anticipated vacancy. The District reserves the right to change this vacancy or not fill this vacancy based on further staffing changes, enrollment, or budget.

Position: Long-Term Substitute Middle School Paraprofessional – Grades 5 & 6

Location: Parker Middle School

Assignment Dates: Immediate Start – 06/15/2026 (Dates are subject to change)

Description: Work with Middle School children in 5th and 6th grade, both in general education classrooms and the special education classroom to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically. This position supports students with specific learning disabilities in the area of reading and written language.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.
  • Knowledge of special education procedures.
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the middle school (5th/6th) level.
  • Experience working with age‑appropriate students in a school setting.
  • Successful candidate will have a positive attitude and must work well as a member of a team.
  • Ability to build relationships with students and colleagues and provide ongoing support and direction to students.
  • Ability to consistently implement strategies and programming as outlined by the special education teacher or related service provider.
  • Support students to generalize taught skills in classroom setting.
  • Work with small groups of students to reinforce previously taught skills.
  • Record data on student progress as modeled and reviewed by teachers and/or related service providers.
  • Other alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services.
