Position: Special Education Teacher
- Life Skills (Grades 5-6)
Location: Parker Middle School
General Description: Special Education teacher for students with intellectual disabilities in grades 5 & 6. Students’ programming ranges from partial inclusion to substantially separate. Provide direct specialized instruction in a small group setting. The role includes teaching functional academic skills, activities of daily living, social skills, communication skills, and behavioral skills with a focus on fostering independence. Manage support staff, collaborate with service providers, and oversee scheduling.
Responsibilities- Design, supervise, and implement students’ IEP plans
- Develop curriculum modifications and adaptations
- Participate in IEP Team meetings
- Write effective IEPs for students
- Collect and analyze student data and monitor progress
- Coordinate services with a team of professionals
- Consult with general education teachers and related service providers
- Assist classroom teachers with instructional strategies to facilitate inclusion
- Write quarterly progress reports for IEP goals based on student performance
- Conduct academic evaluations, interpret results, and write evaluation report within the timeline

Job Requirements- Master’s degree in special education from an accredited college or university (preferred)
- Master’s Association of DESE Teaching License—Severe Special Needs licensure preferred;
Moderate Special Needs licensure & experience acceptable - Experience teaching functional academics, pre‑vocational skills, and transition skills
- Experience modifying and adapting curriculum to ensure student access
- Ability to consult and collaborate with service providers and support staff
- Solid organizational skills
- Experience with IEP development (required)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- At least 3 years of relevant experience (preferred)
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
