Under the supervision of the Preschool Coordinator, the social worker will use a relationship‑based model to support the psychological and social well‑being of preschool students and families. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the social worker will work closely with teachers, therapists, BCBAs, and families to conduct observations and provide therapy in the CHIPS and community settings.
Essential Responsibilities- Observe, assess, and treat children and families in the preschool setting and natural environments.
- Provide dyadic work with preschoolers and their primary caregivers.
- Provide family support, parent training, and case management.
- Consult with teachers and related service providers.
- Provide crisis intervention services.
- Serve as liaison between home, school, and community resources.
- Assist with referrals to community resources as needed.
- Participate in team‑based initial assessments for special education eligibility.
- Complete necessary paperwork and documentation for students.
- Attend supervision, team meetings, and case consultations.
- Use a collaborative approach and commit to working as an integral member of the Early Education team with administration, educators, student services team, families, and community partners.
- Provide social‑emotional learning instruction and support in the preschool classroom.
- Appropriately assess and report suspected abuse or neglect as a mandated reporter.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Other duties as assigned by administration.
- Must be DESE licensed as a School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor.
- Preferred experience working with early childhood population.
- Must have a strong commitment to equity for all students and families and contribute to an environment at CHIPS that honors and celebrates diversity.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
