Job DescriptionParker Middle School is seeking a School Psychologist to work within the public‑school setting. Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, psychological assessments, crisis evaluations, and consultation with staff, families, and community service agencies. The candidate will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team to support student growth, learning, and behavioral health wellness.
Essential Responsibilities- Conduct psychological evaluations and observations for initial and re‑evaluation of special education services.
- Provide counseling, instruction, and mentoring to improve students’ social and emotional functioning and wellbeing.
- Participate in the school crisis team, student support team, Special Education, and MTSS team.
- Identify, evaluate, and place students into special education programs as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, school staff, and community partners to support students’ social‑emotional, academic, and behavioral health.
- Promote wellness and resilience by reinforcing communication, social skills, problem‑solving, anger management, self‑regulation, and self‑determination skills.
- Evaluate eligibility for special education services.
- Produce concise psycho‑educational reports supporting the Special Education team process.
- Communicate regularly with families and caregivers to promote home‑school partnerships.
- Make referrals and coordinate community support services.
- Design and implement student progress monitoring systems.
- Create positive classroom environments to motivate and engage students in growth and learning.
- Support school‑wide MTSS to promote a positive school climate and belonging for all students.
- Promote policies and practices that ensure student safety by reducing violence, bullying, and harassment.
- Assess and report suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter.
- Respond to crises with leadership, direct services, and coordination as part of the Crisis Team.
- Design, implement, and garner support for comprehensive school mental health programming.
- Maintain communication with administrators, teachers, other personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action.
- Maintain confidentiality of all school and health‑related issues.
- Recommend modifications of the school program for students requiring social‑emotional accommodations.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Massachusetts DESE Certification as a School Psychologist.
- Completion of a School Psychology degree program from an accredited School and/or Doctoral Level Clinical Psychology program.
- Commitment to high standards and equity for all students and families.
- Understanding of procedures and function within a school system, especially the special education process.
- Desirable prior experience in public school.
- Commitment to collaboration within a professional learning community.
- Evidence of continuous professional learning and participation in professional growth opportunities.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
