Salary: $61,142 to $114,820 Per Year
- Teach students responsible research practices, project creation skills, digital literacy, and the effective and ethical use of technology.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate research and information literacy skills into the middle school curriculum.
- Partner with faculty to design inquiry-based lessons, units, and learning activities that support curriculum goals.
- Work with the Curriculum Coordinator to develop and refine the Middle School research scope and sequence.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and school improvement initiatives.
- Foster a culture of reading for both pleasure and academic growth through formal and informal programming.
- Help students navigate the digital landscape safely and thoughtfully by teaching website and generative AI evaluation strategies, media literacy, and critical thinking skills.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Curate, organize, and maintain a diverse and developmentally appropriate collection of print and digital resources, including books, e-books, audiovisual materials, and online databases.
- Assist students and faculty in locating, evaluating, and interpreting information resources.
- Inform teachers, students, and administrators about new materials, technologies, and services that support instructional and informational needs.
- Maintain efficient library organization and retrieval systems to ensure accessible and accurate resource management.
- Manage access to library collections and digital resources through the library catalog and website.
- Recommend age-appropriate literature and collaborate with teachers to strengthen classroom and independent reading collections.
- Serve at the library circulation and reference desk while fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for the school community.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; appropriate DESE licensure as a School Librarian required.
- Demonstrated academic and/or school library experience, particularly with children and adolescents.
- Experience designing and implementing library and information literacy curriculum for middle school learners.
- Passion for working with children and contributing positively to school life.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and the ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Strong collaborative skills and a commitment to professional growth within a team environment.
- Willingness to contribute to the broader school community beyond the classroom or library setting.
- Strong interest in and aptitude for information technology and digital learning tools.
- Knowledge of children’s and young adult literature.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with library automation systems, digital resource management platforms, and technologies that support library services.
- Ability to approach work with optimism, professionalism, flexibility, kindness, energy, and a sense of humor.
- Commitment to continuous professional learning and growth.
- At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
